How crazy is it to have diary after diary either condemning or lauding Obama. The man is a duly elected official, the highest of our federal officials but still an elected pol, as corrupt as our system is, the result of a major victory over the totally insane right wing takeover. I do not come to bury Caesar nor to praise him, but I do come to hope that we can see beyond the man and look to the office he holds. The office that has a peculiar position in our system of checks and balances.
He ran against the most hated regime of my lifetime and probably in American history. A right wing coup of the extreme edge, a fascistic regime. I believed the dude. He offered restoration, he offered a new politics, he offered change. He touted himself as a vessel for the people, a bottom up government that would replace the onerous and disgusting Bushies. I believed because this was what I had worked for for eight long years. I signed up, I battled Hillary, I went and convinced my neighbors, my district anyone I could that this was the way forward. This is not the way forward, no one man is. We are, but only if we stop expecting a rigged system and the candidates they offer us to save us.
I ask Kossacks the community I turned to during the Bush regime for a solution and relief, to quit condemning people who question policy and agenda. I do not hate the man. I worked my butt off to get him elected via my local party and the Obama campaign. I helped bring my district in not for Obama but change. Real change that is needed and has not been delivered no matter what excuses the owners of the place use.
Stop framing every objection every real voice that asks "where is the representation we need, where are we the people, and where is the real law, the one in our sacred documents", as a traitor or a bad Democrat. I learned a lot from Obama and working on his campaign, I learned that most people of good spirit want this cruel corporate dominated take over of our government ended. They want representation that includes them. A government that works for common good. Ass backwards politics to assume that those right and left are the enemies of the possible, you let the enemy set what is possible. The possible is always possible but only if you let go of your visions that are formed by those who have the power, and control what you work for and support. Stop supporting the bad guys, no matter which party they hang their name on. Don't buy into their political fictions.
So why demonize those who question the agenda, the results? Why not look at instead of the person of Obama, or the intentions of Obama, the actual policy of Obama, the agenda of this administration and it's real power, it's real mandate. Instead we make excuses. Red, blue, purple, dogs, progressives we all have to live and work in the reality we create, the reality we accept or call real.
