I have not seen this diaried yet, and - frankly - this is probably another giant gift from the Republican warfare machine to us Democrats.
Caught on video while he was still at Microsoft, the RNC's new media director, Todd Herman, explains that Al Qaeda's communications strategy can be used to great effect by other (assumedly more benign) business and political entities.
Here is the link on Political Wire: http://politicalwire.com/...
Now to be fair, Herman never praises the organization, and he does say these tactics should be used more positively.
But - I mean - come on, Todd! You are in the communications business. In politics (and I assume even in your private sector days you must have had some political affinity or why would you even have the RNC job), the only time you should ever mention anything that negative in the minds of American voters is in describing how you'd like to stop them.
But aside from the foot-in-mouth disease, and more importantly, there's this: What an indicator - again - of how Republicans approach politics. Win at any cost and use the ideas that work for you, no matter where they come from, and no matter how morally questionable.
Doing something that Al Qaeda employs successfully, even if you want different results, is kind of like a drug kingpin taking profits and donating them to an orphanage.
Oh, and Todd? You might want to bring a milk crate to work tomorrow, so you can pack up your desk...
