The idea is to post a contract to maintain your weight over the holidays or commit to XX minutes of exercise and have weekly reports. (No, you don't have to post your weight online if you don't want to! Just an update of your progress.)

So I am going to jump in with my goals:
- 10,000 steps (or roughly 5 miles) of movement per day.
- Maintain my current weight of 254lbs at a minimum (but hopefully continue to loose weight over the holidays).
This is an open thread so reply with any thoughts, goals, questions, etc.
I will briefly share a few thoughts on a product I am using. I learned about it in a WHEE diary. It is fitday.com.
This is a FREE program. It also has a FEE program if you don't want to look at the ads, just like dailykos. This program does all the math for me:
I picked 75 weeks to loose 125 pounds. So I need to loose 1.65 pounds per week.
Currently I am burning about 3249 calories per day. My average consumption is 1724 calories per day. So I am on track and even doing a little better than expected. I am currently allowed to eat up to 2422 calories per day.
Weight Loss per Day / Calories per Pound = Calorie Restriction per Day or
0.24 / 3500 = 827 Calories per day Restriction
The program creates a custom calorie budget after I put in my goal, current weight, goal date, age, lifestyle, etc. Then it tracks my progress. I sign in a few times each day and enter my exercise and the food I have eaten. It does the rest. This program allows me to track my nutrition as well, so it was easy for me to see where I needed to add supplements.
I really can't explain why this is so easy for me, but it is. I have done weight watchers on three different occasions and it never stuck. I admit I am a cheap geek at heart and having it in a nice online package for free tickles my fancy. No math, spread sheet or hard work required.
