To add to that warm, overstuffed feeling I had on Thanksgiving, as the culinary carnage lay strewn around us on the table, was the knowledge that mere miles away from us was Sarah Palin, sitting down in Richland, Washington (The Fightin' 4th District) to enjoy dinner with some of her relatives. Just a down home holiday with her Aunt is all. She's so folksy.
And then she ran in a charity race and waved to the adoring fans, and then on Sunday, she plans to do a little book signing event, even though she isn't campaigning for 2012, ya know. Just sharin' a little Palin with the masses is all. Gettin' mavericky, you betcha.
Well, since she decided to stop by and pay us a visit, how about we give her a parting gift before she leaves here on Sunday? How about we get some cash to military veteran and Democrat Jay Clough, who is running against the Republican corrupt empty suit, Congressman Doc Hastings here in the 4th?
I've already seen numerous Facebook statuses from friends of mine with pictures of The Palin, and heard excited accounts of how they came close to seeing someone who saw someone who touched Palin on the arm as she was running by. I get all goosepimply just thinking about it.
Come to think of it, remember when Obama was getting slammed by every wingnut in the country (and John McCain) as being little more than "a celebrity"? I love those convenient "principled" arguments of theirs, don't you?
Well 33-year old Jay Clough is running against eight term Congressman Doc Hastings in 2010, and since it is an R+10 district, you can be sure the party elders on the Democratic side won't invest a lot of cash into this race.... UNLESS.... they see us giving him a fighting chance that a dozen ad buys looks like it might have a chance to bear fruit.
Remember, it's very early, and our grassroots' donation resources aren't yet spoken for. This would be a great time to drop in $25 or $50, or to sign up for $10 a month to help Jay out from here until the election.
There is an ActBlue donation site already established to help him out. Won't you help us give Palin the Thanksgiving bird of a sendoff and throw some cash into Democratic coffers?
Thank you, and have a happy holiday from all of us blue dems behind enemy lines here in the Washington 4th. I know Jay Clough would thank you also, in fact you may be hearing from him on these pages soon.
If you have questions for Jay, post them in the comments section below, and I'll see that he gets them.
