I know I’ll get trashed for daring to suggest that Obama is less than perfect, but in the glaring light of reality, there is no other conclusion to reach other than Obama is no friend to the LGBT community.
Today is election day and Obama has made it a point to campaign for Democratic candidates in Virginia and New Jersey as well as sending Joe Biden to NY-23. But what has the Administration said or done to support Maine’s “No on 1” campaign? Nada.
From The Stranger, Seattle’s only newspaper:
The Obama administration refused to do the bare minimum for the president's LGBT supporters. Obama didn't issue an explicit statement calling on voters in Maine to vote "NO" on Question 1 and he didn't ask voters in Washington state to approve R-71. Obama's political organization—Organizing for America—sent an email to voters in Maine yesterday asking them to remember to vote. But it didn't mention Question 1 or ask Maine voters to vote "NO" on Question 1. The votes in Maine and Washington state today is likely to be very, very close, and Obama's inaction—his refusal to advocate for the equality of same-sex couples—could hand the bigots a victory.
And today, we learn that the it gets even worse. The DNC’s Organizing for America sent another e-mail to Maine voters today asking them to get involved and take action and help out of the vote – in New Jersey.
Combine that with the Administration’s DOJ once again defending DOMA is court last Friday, his refusal to act on DADT and you’ve got a record that is inexcusable, given that he campaigned as a “fierce advocate” of LGBT issues.
For those of you who say “But he’s got a lot on his plate, just wait,” I’ll let Jon Steward handle that one.

For those of you who say he had to defend DOMA, I present the following:

Face it folks, on LGBT issues, Obama is a failure.
