That is, the Democratic-Republican party. Also called the the Corporatist Party.
Actually, this party really isn't new. The same people run the country regardless of whether the Democrats or Republicans win. They're 2 wings of the same bird, leading people to believe they're actually "throwing the bums out" and voting for change. In reality, the true wealthy elites running our country grin, knowing that both parties bow to their will regardless of who is elected. They have nothing to worry about.
Yeah, there are some "rogues" on both sides of the bird. For example, people like Kucinich on our side and Ron Paul on the GOP. However, 95% of the Democratic and Republican elected officials are bought and paid for by their corporate masters. The fact that there are 2 parties only gives voters a false choice, in reality everything is controlled by one party: The Democratic-Republicans. Sorry to all those that still believe in Obama, but both him and his chief of staff are bought and paid for.
Sure, people will point out this is the same thing Nader voters thought in 2000, which got us Bush instead of Gore. But would Gore really have been better than Bush? The Democrats in the House and Senate folded like an antique lawn chair in going to war in Iraq, so why wouldn't Gore have as well? I'm also sure people will point me to the "progressive agenda" passed in Obama's first year. Except nothing about it was progressive. It was all social issue crumbs that took no money or power away from their corporate masters. The insurance industry welfare currently making it's way through the Senate looks like it was written by Bush and co-written by the health insurance industry, and this is with supermajorities of Democrats in the House and Senate. It is Big Pharma's wet dream. So called "moderates" strip out any provisions that don't benefit their corporate masters, even if the ones they're taking out are popular with 75% of the public. The War in Afghanistan is escalating. Abortion is being restricted. If that doesn't tell you reform is impossible with the system we currently have now, then nothing will.
Sure, Democrats are marginally better than the GOP, simply because (most) are open-minded on social issues, things most corporatists don't care about. But even then they don't hesitate to throw social liberals under the bus by inserting anti-abortion provisions into bills and lying to the LGBT community as long as the end result pleases their masters.
The Democratic Party does not stand for progressives, and we're clearly not welcome in their party. It's time for us to go elsewhere.
