Are you comfortable with the insurance and medical industries having their profit structure protected by the powers of the state? Will insurance profits grow from the barrel of a gun? In the end, the campaign contributions were too much to ignore, but where will the hyperbole lead?
To begin, the question is whether our government has just done it's best to serve the people of the United States, or the industry of the USA?
Put another way, who's heaving a sigh of relief? Is middle-class America smiling at the thought of medical burden relief, or is Wall Street giggling at the fresh influx of patient dollars?
If Obama and the assembled politicians have indeed served the masters of industry, then it's left to the left to determine how they will voice their displeasure. Will the 'disenfranchised' equate 'opting out' with other forms of civil disobedience?
On another note, did you think that 'disenfranchised' would ever describe you after 2008 - by Obama no less?
P.S. I worked in the Obama campaign, so I can assure you that I am not surprised by any of this.
The word 'principled' most definitely did not apply to the professional arm of the Obama campaign. Suffice it to say that the Machiavellian 'Rahm Rules' were the MO of the campaign, and this 'health care reform' push is indicative of more to come.
Does anyone want to read a diary post that will truly disillusion you?
