There’s a lot of grumbling about the Big Bank bailouts, “too big too fail” and the increasing fees and interest rates Big Banks are charging. And yet, I would hazard to guess that a majority of people doing the grumbling are customers of these same Big Banks. Well now, you don’t have to be!
There’s an excellent post over at HuffPo about a movement to move your money to smaller, community bank and to credit unions. I know what you’re going to say. “It’s too much of a hassle to move my account. I’ve got direct deposits, automatic withdrawals, yada yada yada.” Well, take it from someone who has moved their checking account (complete with direct deposit and automatic withdrawals) twice in two years – it’s easy. It takes a total of about 10 minutes to get it all moved. Isn’t it worth 10 minutes to strike a blow for fairness and decency?
