Hey Everyone,
I have a bit more news from Law Dems and a request for a favour. The NDLSC(Law Dems National) is gearing up for it's annual national convention. We hold this convention every year to provide interesting panels, networking opportunities, and important training sessions for our vast membership. The convention this year will be at the very end of February.
Of course, NDLSC is a relatively young organization. If any of you worked on voter protection this year you likely saw a law student from one of our chapters out at the polls helping voters. We are striving to become the best trained voter protection team in the country. To do this, we actively work to expand our membership and provide essential training. This year, the Convention is being held in Chicago. While this is a relatively convenient place for many schools, other schools are much further and less well funded. We like to expand our membership by assisting these chapters in attending.
To this end, we have created a grant program. We accept applications from new members and select a few to assist them in attending the convention. Each member of the National Executive Board is expected to fundraise $200 dollars to assist in the effort. That is why I am here. I know DailyKos is populated with quite a few Lawyers who understand the importance of maintaining a strong Law School Democrats organization with broad membership and strong training. I ask that you consider donating a few bucks to the effort. I am just trying to hit the $200 requirement. Even 5 dollars helps.
This year's convention should be a great one. We are providing panels on a broad assortment of issues and running workshops on membership and chapter building.
Do you know someone interested in attending? Of course we try to keep this mostly for law students and young attorneys, anyone interested in that way should PLEASE leave a comment below. I would love for more people to attend. And if your a professor, a practitioner, or interested legal/political individual feel free to drop a comment as well and I will try and communicate as quickly as I can.
