Wow. Just wow. Can you believe this? The man never takes a day off. From the Guardian UK
In a departure from protocol, U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, spent the evening in the London flat of two working class Londoners staving off foreclosure. Flat-dwellers, Alexander Johnson and Marina Wheeler, called the shock of the presidential entourage overtaking their quiet Hackney neighborhood, 'one of the most magical days of our lives.'
The flat owners invited the U.S. leader and his wife into their sparsely furnished home for tea and then showed them to the room of daughters Lara and Cassia. It would be in this small children's room where the Obama's would decamp for the evening.
With all that is going on in the world, I find it just fascinating that the President and Michelle would go out of their way to connect with the real, working class people of not only the United States but also the world
It seems as though Johnson, a plumber, has found it difficult to find work since the real estate meltdown in London. More from the Guardian,
Johnson and Wheeler may appear to be two typical working class Londoners, however, they are activists in the London political scene. Johnson, in particular, is known to attend City Council meetings daily in the fight to preserve the rights of London homeowners.
Here is a photo of Johnson right after the arrival of Barack Obama and Michelle.
As Londoners wake up this morning and read the daily newspapers, they will know what we have known all along. On each and every day, our President has the hearts of the working class in mind and in his actions.
