This month, it begins!
As the subject moves to healthcare, the time is right to do PRECISELY what was done during the Civil Rights Movement: massive, peaceful, progressive sit-ins.
Let's EVERYONE who lacks healthcare, and everyone who was denied healthcare coverage by a greedy insurer, and everyone whose premiums continue to grow year by year by year (while benefits decrease) sit-in at the national headquarters of the ten largest health insurance companies.
The message, simply, we demand REAL health care reform, and SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE! More below the fold.
Really, it doesn't take millions or even thousands to start the ball rolling. If properly done, it can be just a handful of people.
On February 1, 1960, four college students sat-in at a Woolworth's in Greensboro, North Carolina. Within weeks, the sit-ins had spread throughout North Carolina and throughout the South.
We can do just as well (or better) today.
Here's my idea (which someone may have already suggested)-
People without health insurance, especially those who most need it, organize these sit-ins. They must of course be totally peaceful.
Follow the structure of the most successful sit-ins of the Civil Rights Movement; well dressed, extremely polite, and optimistic. If done properly, these sit-ins could get a huge amount of press.
Please add your thoughts or start planning. If anyone knows of a web site for this, please add a link!
This should start THIS MONTH with the renewed focus on healthcare.
We need to emphasize SINGLE PAYER, or at the very least "medicare for all".
