The recent National Organization for Marriage ad is built upon an insidious lie. And I even found Biblical proof.
It has been well documented that the anti-same sex marriage ad was a sham because it used actors to portray supposedly concerned citizens.
See: Rachel Maddow @ 2:08
However, there is an underlying claim that seems to have been glossed over by the media, the claim that: "a rainbow coalition of people of every creed and color are coming together in love to protect marriage."
Here is a transcript of the ad:
• There's a storm gathering...
• The clouds are dark, the winds are strong...
• And I am afraid...
• Some who advocate for same-sex marriage are taking the issue far beyond same-sex couples...
• They want to bring the issue into my life...
• My freedom will be taken away...
• I'm a California doctor who must choose between my faith and my job...
• I'm part of a NJ church group punished by the government because we can't support same-sex marriage...
• I'm a Massachusetts parent helplessly watching public schools teach my son that gay marriage is OK...
• But some who advocate for same-sex marriage have not been content with same-sex couples living as they wish...
• Those advocates want to change the way I live...
• I will have no choice...
• The storm is coming...

The Fear in the ad is obvious--
Storm gathering...I am afraid...freedom taken away...punished by government...helplessly watching...change the way I live...no choice...storm coming...
My question is where is the love they profess?
"a rainbow coalition of people of every creed and color are coming together in love to protect marriage."
Someone, anyone tell me how this ad portrays love? Anyone? Someone?
Let me see, I thought I should perhaps turn to a book that NOM might approve to see if I could find the love in the ad. There it is:
"There is no fear where love exists. Rather, perfect love banishes fear, for fear involves punishment, and the person who lives in fear has not been perfected in love." 1 John 4:18
So, if I remember my logic class from a few decades ago:
If no fear where love
Than where love equals no fear
Therefore if fear than no love.
Surprise, those people at NOM lied to us not only about who was in the ad, they lied to us when they said it was based upon people coming together based upon love.
Let's look closer at that ad again and see what we missed.
I promised at the top of the fold for Biblical proof that NOM's ad is based upon a lie. I read a little further:
If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. 1 John 4:20
So unless those guys at NOM want to admit they don't love God, they are liars.
