The section of Obama's website where he promised to repeal DOMA has been scrubbed, and it is no longer there. See for yourself.
This is hardly surprising to me. Sure, it may not be coming straight from the horse's mouth, but waffling on your website shows for one thing that he truly is not committed to fighting for any gay rights issue. As noted here, his promise to DADT has also been re-worded to give him weasel room and then changed back.
At least let us know where you stand, Mr. President. If you support continuing to treat gays as second class citizens, then just say it out loud and stop making promises you can't/won't keep. You could easily at the very least stop enforcing the DADT policy, but you continue to let gay men and women be kicked out just for who they are.
If you are too cowardly to get behind something 75% of Americans support, then I don't even know what to say. This is also a section of an interview with Obama's national security advisor, James Jones on DADT:
STEPHANOPOULOS: But it will be overturned.
JONES: I don't know. We'll have to -- the president has said that he is in favor of that. We'll just wait -- we'll have to wait and see -- as a result of the deliberations and as a result of the - in the months and weeks ahead. We have a lot on our plate right now. It has to be teed up at the right time so - to do this the right way.
While America is slowly starting to embrace gay rights, Obama is backing away from them. Sad.
