The community of the Daily Kos is robust with talent, humor, intelligence, yes, and a heavy dash of common sense, fortitude, commiseration and kinship.
It's a place of courage, pride and loyalty.
And in a loose sense of the term, powerful.
Epiphany: We are what we want to be...
Curios? Follow me further.
There is a common thread in the threads of diaries that keeps coming to the fore.
The rats in the democratic party. Our unhappiness with the status quot is fomenting deep distrust and anger towards the obvious ineptness and worse what's really going in Washington...a bunch of CYA.
We've got Finestein in CA and her secret meetings, the whole blue dog crew, Ben Nelson, well you get the point.
These people are making decisions for us that aren't in our best interest.
They've all made a mockery of the government with their back door deals, black mailing each other, being bought by the highest bidder, grand standing, political theater and nothing gets done and if it does it is so watered down its worthless or it takes so long we already have a new set of problems to deal with.
I'm sick of it and I am sick of them and the same old answers, the spin, and the whole talking head thing they do so well. They are all starting to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher to me now. I don't know how to write that sound but that's it.
And none of them are in a nats hair of reality.
We can do better.
We have the power.
We knew winning the presidency wasn't going to be easy, and we also knew that President Obama couldn't change everything on his own. Even he said that. The president said he needed and wanted our help to change the way things are done in Washington and now is the time to meet that call.
In fact we are late.
Amongst us in this community lurks potential representatives. There are people in this community who could do a hell of a lot better job than what we have now.
I'm serious.
The bar is ridiculously low and the goposaurases (is that a word?) are in a tail spin. What better time to take back what is rightfully ours.
If we got President Obama into the white house we can get regular Americans into the senate and congress.
Yes, it will be a lot of work and yes we'll have to raise a lot of money, but if we do it methodically, figure out where our chances are best e.g. California, come on there has to be somebody from California who with our support and help can't whip her. She's not even that well liked there.
Remember, nobody knew Obama.
Just as we did with President Obama, we can do with one of our own and take back our government the good old fashion way.
Whip their butts, district by district, state by state.
Worse case scenario, even if we don't win, they'll know we are after their seats and are determined. It'll put pressure on them to perform for the people not for the lobbyist. It will get them thinking which would be a break through on on its own.
We just want a functioning government, then we can worry about the size of it.
I really want to have people represent me who think about Americans first and themselves last. Who want to work hard for Americans and for the betterment of all Americans. Not just for the perks.
Does that sound like you?
Like we've heard a million times before, change starts with us.
President Obama was right, we are the change we've been waiting for.
Please rec this, not for me but for those people out there...who have the potential and want to represent us in Washington.
YES WE CAN!
Update one and last: I've updated and edited out some words that were offending people and I never meant to offend anyone or disrespect the president or hit any nerves.
I think there is a lot of talent out there and across America.
but from some of the comments I wondered if I wasn't on a conservative site.
I'll take it as a sign my writing sucks and not give up my day job.
