I received this gem today in my email:
Does This Border on Treason? Here is yet another unilateral action taken by our new President, for which we must rely upon the information of friends to discover. I wonder how the "Jewish" block of Democratic voters now feels about their choice for President. Check it out.. Maybe by the time the next election 2012 we will have been shaken out of our deep sleep, I really wonder. Try and tell the American people that Obama doesn't have ties to the Islamic terrorist world. Obama funds $20M tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas Refugees to the USA This is the news that didn't make the headlines... By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in migration assistance to the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza . The "presidential determination" which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States was signed on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4.
And wait. Its gets better.
(jump)
It continues..........
Few on Capitol Hill took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006. A review of Barack Obama's most recent actions since he was inaugurated: His first call to any head of state as president was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory. His first one-on-one interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.. He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted. He ordered all overseas CIA interrogation centers closed. He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and 9/11. Now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to and live in the US at American taxpayer expense.
To verify for yourself: http://www.thefederalregister.com/... PLEASE PASS THIS ON... AMERICA NEEDS TO KNOW!
Being the hothead I can sometimes be, I was in no mood. I immediately hit "REPLY ALL" (over 100 people) to reach out to the loons. Everyone: it is up to EACH of us to fight lies and disinformation at EVERY opportunity. If you get one of these emails, DONT hit delete. Fight. There is simply too much at stake. We have the upcoming Supreme Court hearings, and the many smear emails which will ensue. We have countless problems which the Democrats are now trying to solve. We own the problems. Just like we will own the solutions. Make a commitment to yourself to not be swiftboated. You will not be complacent. You will not let your guard down just because the election is over. Now is when the work starts. And it involves each of us. We worked hard to elect our current leaders, starting with president Obama. The least we can do is to watch their backs from heresay and lies. So without further delay, I give you my morning rant. (by the way: get a second email account for your rants!!!)
(sir):
I unfortunately received your email. I cant help but comment.
To start, here is the official site of the "Federal Register".

Here is the link to the actual signed document, as released:

Don't take a 3rd party's word for anything regarding politics. Left or right. www.thefederalregister.com is not a primary source of governmental information.
Now, on to your assertions: Below is the text of the document: Please point out to me where it says that it will "allow hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States" as your email alleges.

trative expenses of Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the

Hmm. Since when is it un-American to help refugees? 20 million dollars for several million souls living in refugee camps? This is a drop in the bucket. This is nothing more than the right thing to do. It has NOTHING to do with politics or the political intentions of the President who signed it. Its a humanitarian contribution to a population in need. What could "international, governmental, and nongovernmental organizations" possibly mean..... The Red Cross? Oh, the outrage!! And in regard to your "review of his actions", yes he has done all of those things: as he openly said he would in the presidential campaign and was elected as such. It is the will of the majority of the people. I apologize if you disagree. It is your right. In regards to the USS Cole: YES, the charges were dropped...... by the Pentagon, not Obama, for lack of evidence. http://www.washingtontimes.com/...
I quote: "Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said Susan Crawford, the convening authority for the military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay, made the decision to withdraw charges"
You are free to disagree with the President. (he is your elected president: try showing a little patriotic respect by referring to him as the President). However, please do it from an informed point of view. You only make yourself look ill informed by sending (or forwarding) emails that simply are not true. If the right is resorting to this kind of stuff to try and discredit the President (for whatever reason), they have a warped sense of context. "The Google" has this nasty habit of finding facts. Simply saying something does not make it true. And as my mother always said "the truth will set you free". I welcome the emails, but I am no lemming, willing to believe any wacky email and take it as gospel.
Enjoy your nightmare.
Regards,
KC
