It pains me to have to say this, truly, but we must part ways for now. I'm a confirmed movie junkie and watch no "television" except for MSNBC. In fact, the MSNBC logo has burned itself into the lower right corner of my television (as proudly pointed out by my daughter who is an MSNBC avid fan.)
I confess, I cannot tolerate "Morning Joe" nor that new guy on the block that follows him, Rattigan, I believe the name is. Until now, I just don't watch television in that time block; no problem. Of course, I never miss Keith and Rachel. I've found myself liking Ed more and more as time goes on. However, it seems trite but true that all good things must come to an end.
I'm confident that with your ratings you will never miss a single, lowly viewer such as myself. I do, however, admit to a hidden hope that I will not be the only viewer that finds their repugnance meter has been fully breached. You see, MSNBC, you have a problem.
It's been brewing for a while now. Simmering, stewing, steaming along, gaining strength; the full boil was finally reached yesterday. I understand fully that you believe you have a duty to present two sides to each argument, for the sake of "fairness." I can embrace that concept. After all, nothing would be more bland and tiresome than a mere echo chamber. Unfortunately, what is going on far surpasses a simple presentation of an opposing conservative viewpoint.
Yes, I dare speak of "Uncle Pat." Let us be blunt here. The man is a racist, misogynistic, arrogant, contemptuous, and condescending waste of air space. I've tried to be tolerant, accepting of his right to a different opinion. I've muted him at times to grapple with my outrage, while muttering insults under my breath. After his "performance" yesterday, that is just not sufficient any longer.
I've come to realize that watching your programs with this vile man participating is akin to approving of the content. Well, I don't approve of the content when he spews the racist swill rancor from his infected soul. I pity him that he must live so miserably with that type of hatred eating away at him; however, that does not mean I have to permit him to spread his diseased state in my home, my living room.
So, Dear MSNBC, it sadly comes to this. When you excise this malignant excuse for an opposing viewpoint from your broadcasts, I'll return home like an old friend. Until then, we must come to a parting of ways for I cannot abide the poor choice of company you keep. This decision casts no aspersions upon you, MSNBC, except possibly to question your good judgment in providing a pulpit from which this creature may preach his disturbing and warped vision of reality. Each time he opens his mouth, he widens the racist chasm between us. The company one keeps does in fact reflect upon one and one must be cautious with associations lest one stumble and fall into abyss with the companion.
