We all need to stand up and take responsibility for our country.
I cannot believe how easily the majority of folk in this country are led astray by lies, innuendo and blatant in-your-face insincerity.
President Obama is not perfect even though some claimed he walked on water. He showed how imperfect he was when he let the world see that he is just human like all of us when he honestly answered the Gates question in his Presser. The President gave an answer most would have given hearing that a man was arrested in his house. He forgot, for a brief moment, how much power his words have. I guess he will not answer any question about race that honestly anymore---our loss.
I cannot for the life of me understand why most in this country cannot clearly see the crisis that is right before us. We have problems with the climate as seen in the extreme weather over the past few months. We have problems with our healthcare; our infrastructure and with the way energy is received and used. Yet, most folk just want to go on believing that we are ok.
We voted Obama into power to bring massive change; we voted in the dems in the majority to help him make big change. How soon we forget!
The man has only been in power for 6 months and he is expected to make everything right in the world even though he is not an American citizen (Palin wink here). The majority of Americans now seem to want a situation that was created over the past few decades (and made worse in the last one)to be solved in overdrive.
I ask myself when are we as a collective going to take responsibility for our country?
Congress is not helping Obama. Republicans are out to skin him alive and made it obvious that they want to see him fail but Dem Senators and Reps seem only interested in getting re-elected again. They are not very courageous and willing to stand up and fight for the change that was ushered in with Obama.

I am very concerned about the future of this country.
No, not just because health care reform is being so watered down in Congress that it now completely fails to address the underlying dire (and spiraling) problems of the health care system. (As I've written previously, there is no defensible position to opposing a public option.) Rather, it's watching how the health care debate has unfolded (and other attempts at legislation this year, too), and how Congress has handled the relevant legislation. And also how the American people have reacted.
At the risk of oversimplifying something that is far more complicated, in their most basic form, I see two trends that are disturbing:
- Congress (not just the Republicans, either) has not supported President Obama's attempts at delivering the change on which he campaigned (and the change for which Americans overwhelmingly voted).
- The American people have not been savvy about the dynamic in Washington, mainly because, it seems to me, they are in total denial as to the severity of the problems facing the country...

People might disagree with how Obama is going about solving the country's problems but at least he is willing to put it all on the line in order to
get something done (thus sinking poll numbers).
Obama could sit still and do nothing or do the stuff that is easy in order to look good in the polls but he has chosen to do something to move this country forward.
Yes, moving the country forward will cause some to hate him, some to love him and some to distrust him because of their deep-seated cynicism, which I can understand. Our leaders have not always proven trustworthy and have broken their promises to
us time and time again. However, when I look at Obama he is trying to keep his promises. He appears to be a decent, caring man who genuinely cares about this country and its people.
I am truly saddened by the racism that is running rampant on our airwaves and on the blogosphere. The environment has gotten so toxic that it is becoming more and more difficult to watch or listen to.
When are we going to take responsibility as a collective and stand up against all of the garbage that is allowed to stand out there? When are the Dems in the house and Senate going to realize that their fate is directly tied to the fate of this President and get off their rumps and act like the majority?
Congressmen and women need to stop worrying about the next election or the next fundraiser and spend more time worrying about the lives of the American people. They need to do what is right for us and not what is right for them.
Many of us laugh at the republicans and their birther conspiracy but if we don't get our house in order we will be crying in a few short months time when we wake up and find Boner in charge of the HOuse and Mc-can't-tell in charge of the Senate. Believe me they will get things done. They always do. Obama is doing his job but when will Dems in congress begin to do theirs and get to work passing legislation that we demanded by our votes in 2008?
If Dems allow healthcare to fail or to pass with a weak public option we will become more and more ineffective as time goes on and a laughing stock in the media.
Obama will still be Prez but he will be counting the days to only one term in office.
Who will we blame for that?
