Ignorance is bliss. Supposedly. But it's bliss that's noticeably missing in the health care debate. As Republi-cants have again decided to approach a rational conversation with tools invented by the master of mendacious propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, the ignorant, the less literate and those simply too lazy to read, think or switch a channel, have turned livid. 'Intellectual activity is a danger to the building of character', says good ol' Joe, blissfully smiling in the Hades. If only he had known how much 'character' the intellectual inactivity can build.
As a former journalist, the Reich Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda was aware that a big enough lie, if repeated over and over, eventually 'becomes' a truth. Especially, in the eyes of the intellectually challenged. His calculation was fairly simple: in every nation, there's more stupid people than the really smart ones. The last 2 weeks clearly prove 2 things: Goebbels was right, and the Republicunts share the same point of view. Lacking any sense behind their opposition of a reform of the 'best health care system in the world', and introducing zero ideas on how to make it more available and affordable, the dumb have been summoning the dumber to show 'character' and flex a muscle. Knowing how easily American unintelligence scares, the well cushioned conservative leaders allowed their hysterical mouthpieces to invent 'facts' and bombard the air with them. Euthanasia, death panels, rationing, abortion, socialism, fascism, are just a few of so many confined points the Republigrunts find worth repeating so their methods of delusional persuasion bear some fruit. Since the dumber like the sound of the drumbeat, they collectively decided not only to embrace the fabricated truths but also to defend them, claiming the first amendment. Oddly enough, also thanks to incompetent media unwilling to debunk the lies, their noise is making a difference. Suddenly, the debate is shifting. No one seems to care anymore about such atrocities as pre-existing condition, rising premiums, denying of coverage or treatment by the insurers etc. The focus is slowly moving towards a discussion about how America is not Canada, let alone Europe. Suddenly, the health care systems that proved to be more efficient and less expensive than the one in the US, are to shatter the American dream, shred the constitution and bring down democracy. Suddenly, over a health care reform, America is on the verge of becoming the brutal and heinous dictatorship Goebbels once created and co-run. There's nothing more ironic than to hear such allegations from within the nation that until this day approves of its government illegal military invasions of sovereign countries. There's nothing more dimwitted than to hear American Nazis call their opponents fascists. The Reich Minister would have been proud.
