The wonderful lying GOP. They'd really love America to believe that they have something palatable to offer when it comes to healthcare - especially seniors. Link
But that's a lie and finally the AARP is calling the GOP, the RNC in particular, on their bullshit.
Michael Steele, and the RNC released a list of rights for seniors as it relates to health care. The problem: As usual this is one big lie. Finally, the group that probably has the most sway with seniors is stepping into the fray:
"Change by itself is anxiety producing, but as we have analyzed the various bills [before Congress], the proposed Medicare savings do not limit benefits, they do not impose rationing and they do not put the government between patients and their doctors," said John Rother, AARP's executive vice president.
Mr. Rother said that AARP was frustrated by the lack of concrete proposals being put forward on the Republican side of the debate. "The debate as I see it doesn't even focus on health care," Mr. Rother said. "It is all about the role of government and the importance of the federal deficit."
Thank you very much Mr. Rother. It's all about frakkin' politics per usual. I, like many (and I have good health insurance courtesy of the federal government) have been frustrated by all the B.S. surrounding this issue.
You see the town halls packed with worried seniors. It's about time that the grour that claims to represents their interests joins the fray. Obama needs to reach out to them all - as he did in his campaign - to set the record straight on this. Because while I'm not ready to say this is going to go down in flames, from where I sit, the GOP has controlled the debate for far too long and as usual, there's been cowtowing to them by our side.
