I finally used Congress.Org's website to send my email to the people who supposedly represent me and my interests.
Currently Congress.Org's website says that 74% of the communications they have received are 74% AGAINST healthcare reform. We must make some drastic changes.
They also included a little "see me" option and I decided to go ahead and let my face be seen. To look at me you would never know that I require a wheelchair outside of the corners of my house, I am partially blind, the left side of my body is like it was in a stroke, all the drugs to control my tremors, spasticity (i.e. muscle cramping) and the botox they use in heavy doses to control neck and back tremors. No, there's no Botox left over for cosmetic reasons....
BTW, this is my 2nd draft. My first was lost when a hand tremor hit at the wrong time and there went my piece of work.... or junk.
I know I rambled, I've never been a good writer, but I did let my feelings be known and so should each one of you. My final word count was in the Yellow Zone...

Please explain how I can explain to people who have either lost their job
due to bankruptcy or health issues, who are no longer able to afford their
health-care premiums (or in the case of a bankruptcy, COBRA is not even
available) where to turn for medical care.
I have had two dear friends diagnosed with Stage 4 cancers. One has since
passed away but I was told his Gold Card Treatment for the indigent must
have cost the taxpayers close to $200,000 minimum.
My other friend is still fighting, was a health-care worker, lost her job
due to her cancer being so advanced, could not afford the COBRA premiums
and is now on the County's Gold Card indigent system, again costing
taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. She feels terrible about it
too.
Please explain to people that Co-Ops are only going to add a few million
to the coverage rolls and enrich the insurance companies, not help the
uninsured public. Without a public option, it is proof that the
Representatives in Congress do not represent those that elected them but
instead those who give the most to their re-election campaigns.
The biggest raises people have gotten since the Reagan days is through tax
cuts (and now look at what a mess the budget is in) and sadly, the rich
did not trickle down their new found money from lower taxes. The middle
class is sadly becoming a thing of the past and people are out there to
make sure they stay down too.
Nothing is free and yet Americans have been programmed to want everything
and pay for absolutely nothing.
Yes, people will take advantage of the system. Right now, I could go on
with how I saw the providers ripping off Medicaid in our State (Texas),
not the patient. My mother was one of the first to report about the so
called "Arthritis Kits" scam that people were running against Medicare.
But I have come to realize that our congressmen/women are too far removed
from their people to really affect change. They will default to the
people who will pay to get them re-elected. It is all a scam and is quite
sad.
The misinformation being spread needs to stop and our Senators and Reps
need to stop so called death panel rumors, VA death panels, the fear of
socialism and the list goes on. The sad reality is we have millions of
people in America who absolutely cannot accept a Black man representing
them and do not accept our President as legitimate. Again, we know this
first hand after being told we were not welcome in our relatives home out
in Midland, TX because we supported Obama.
I know that FEAR controls the masses and I know that our elected people in
Congress know this fact as well.
It is a question of doing the morally right thing or not.
Sincerely,
Marcia XXXXXX

Again, remember, 74% of the correspondence they have received are against any healthcare reform. That must change with your help.
