There is a diary on the rec list that tries to morph an honest answer from the President's Chief of Staff into another great betrayal by the administration.
The comments section is full of 'fuck Rahm' rhetoric tempered only by people rightly pointing out that Rahm works for President Obama. Oh and, fuck Obama too then.
But that diary for some strange reason fails to quote parts of the article that contradict her lede supporting quote.
"I think Senate's been clear about the prospect there is," Emanuel told PBS's Charlie Rose when asked if healthcare can pass with the public option. "That doesn't mean in the House they're not going to come to the table and demand it."
The chief of staff argued that the public option would be hammered out in conference between the House and Senate bills. He said that the bill would be likely be passed by the Thanksgiving holiday break in Congress, though.
"Health care will be passed before the members go home for Thanksgiving," he said, rejecting a question about whether the bill would largely resemble the proposal to emerge from the Senate Finance Committe.
"It will not just be on the Senate Finance Committee because the legislative process a place where both bodies get to contribute," he said.
That looks pretty good to me. Granted I'm not raising money that requires anyone to be motivated to mobilize, but despite the breathless cries claiming otherwise, it really does look like a public option will be hammered out.
I don't have any talking points to add or a specific action item to end with. Maybe just a thank you to everyone that worked hard to get us to this point.
Lets call our reps and let them know we want a strong Public Option.
Call Blue dogs, and call repubs too.
