Sometimes it's hard to be a progressive liberal. After a few days of getting hammered on just about everything--health care setbacks [not defeats], watching every loony Republican under the sun get face time on television, blogs, and in newspapers, and now seeing that Russ Feingold (A Democrat, one of our own) is going to hold b*llshit hearings on the incredibly pressing matter of how many "Czars" Obama has--this came across my bow:
A conservative politician in Georgia is telling his hometown police force to stop looking for the union label, or find new jobs.
Follow me below the fold for the best part of this.
That Republicans are hostile to unions is nothing new. That they support the policies of places like Wal-Mart and McDonalds--who would rather close a store than allow it to unionize--is also nothing new. After all, Republicans don't favor Americans, they favor corporations.
But this is a new low.
As reported in the Macon Telegraph, police officers there want to unionize. the problem?
[ . . . the push to unionize was spurred by officers bearing the burden of rising insurance costs, a loss of incentive pay and the city not having a pay scale.]
The reaction from a GOP City Councilmember?
"I’m thinking I’ll have the City Attorney draft me legislation to dissolve the police department and contract with the Sheriff to provide public safety services."
Here's the best part. The city councilmember is none other than Erick Erickson, managing editor of Red State.
A new low, which I hardly thought possible.
