Merry Meet everyone,
It has been almost twenty years since the last Pagan Census. Going on now there is a new one which can be found here
I know that this is my first dairy post here in the Daily Kos Universe. I am hoping that it ends up being a long and prosperous relation with fellow progressives.
Anyways, it has been since the mid 1990's that there has been a Census for strictly pagans/wiccans/etc. This one is being conducted by renown Pagan scholar Helen Berger with fellow researchers James R. Lewis and Henrik Bogdan. The purpose of the census this time is to update and compare paganism from almost twenty years ago to today. According to the opening of the census it's purpose is as follows,
A number of scholars have noted that it would be helpful to have a follow-up of that survey to see if and how the community has changed or remained the same. The survey that follows uses many, although not all of the same questions that were in the original survey to provide that comparison. There are also new questions, for instance about the Internet, something that was of little interest 20 years ago but is now, and some from other studies, that again permit a comparison. This has resulted in the survey being somewhat long–we appreciate your taking the time to complete it.
I am encouraging all pagans/wiccans/etc that I know to take the census and also to spread the word about it via Facebook, emails, blogs, etc.
You can find the census here.
