When it comes to certain issues and priorities, I have no pride. I'm not above begging without hesitation. So here I am, hat in hand, begging Kossacks unabashedly.
TexMex, SallyCat, DallasDoc and their crews have done some superlative work to get the rabble roused and provide assistance to our brothers and sisters suffering in Haiti. These fine Kossacks prove that we have heroes in our midst. It's been one week since the quake initially hit, but the catastrophe continues to roll on. As expected, life continues elsewhere, new headlines rise in the media, and distractions ensue.
What we cannot, must not do, is allow Haiti to slip lower and lower in the sphere of public attention, languishing out of view, aid slowing to a trickle, while the mounting needs continue unabated. So, here I am, begging all Kossacks to keep Haiti a priority.
I understand that yesterday was a huge political disappointment. Political junkies as ourselves, who have a keen awareness of the long range impact such events can inflict, will continue to replay this loss in our heads and hearts. It's only natural. However, I'm pleading, take a few moments from the recriminations and analysis and remember Haiti. Donate. Remind someone else to donate. Do not forget and forsake Haiti.
Please, visit the last installment of Shelterboxes,LINK courtesy of the wonderful, hardworking TexMex, and donate!!
We cannot forget, in the hustle and bustle of our lives, that people are suffering and dying in Haiti and need our help. It truly is a matter of life and death. The media is allowing this disaster to slip down from the headlines already in search of a new and exciting headline, but the misery and devastation still goes on in Haiti.
We are all aware that Kossacks can argue politics, chew gum, walk, and provide desperately needed aid and attention all at once, so let's show them how it is done. Please visit the TexMex diary and rec it while providing a donation.
Yes, I am begging. Take a brief interlude from the political wars and remember a priority worth giving to. You just might save a life today.
