Although I don't live in Illinois anymore, I was raised there and lived in various parts of the state all the way through law school. It's primary day, and reports show that turnout, so far, is very low. Stakes are high. This election can reshape the trajectory of government and politics in the state of Illinois. Please vote for Raja Krishnamoorthi for Comptroller.
Raja is a highly educated individual with the unique leadership qualities and experience to bring Illinois politics and government back on track. After Blago, Daley, Madigan, Burris, George Ryan, etc etc etc, the people of Illinois need to see hope in their leaders. We have a good one in the Senate (Durbin) and had another good one who went on to better and bigger things (of course, Obama). The bullpen ain't deep past that.
However Raja gives me hope for the future of politics and government in Illinois and possibly beyond. Admittedly, Raja's family and my family have known each other for several years seeing that both of us are from Peoria, IL. However, even though I might know him personally, that doesn't take away from the fact that Raja graduated from Princeton and Harvard, worked on President Obama's 2000 congressional campaign, 2004 senate campaign, and was an advisor on his 2008 presidential campaign. Nor does it take away from the fact that he was Deputy Treasurer, Chair of the Audit Committee for the Illinois Housing Development Authority, and help start the public corruption unit in the Illinois Attorney General's Office. He is uniquely qualified to bring accountability, responsibility, ethics, and openness back into Illinois politics. Because of his experience, the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, Peoria Journal Star, and various other newspapers and public officials have endorsed him enthusiastically. With those credentials, even if my family weren't friends with his, I would be urging you to vote for him
Therefore, if you haven't, first, please be sure to vote in the Illinois primary today. Second, please strongly consider voting for Raja for Illinois Comptroller. You can check out his website at www.rajaforillinois.com.
