After watching Sarah Palin at the Teabag-o-rama, all I can say is: WE ARE AFRAID OF THESE PEOPLE?
Jump
Everybody who has not seen this needs to find it and force yourself, no matter how hard it is, to watch it in its entirety. Observations
- This "convention" was held in a hotel ballroom. As a musician, I regularly play weddings that are bigger. If 600 people were there, I would guess there are at least 200 significant others that could care less (400 left) and maybe half of whats left who are true believers with the money to make their "party" happen. This site alone dwarfs their movement. THIS IS THE CONTEXT PEOPLE.
- While the "mainstream liberal media" LOVES to cover them and their demonstrations, we with people power and the ballot box beat them every time. With one caveat: We CANT sit on our hands and expect them to defeat themselves. Like a souffle, it with flatten with the simplest of acts...... stick a pin in any of their B.S and watch it deflate. It is ALL hot air.
- Gods greatest gift to Barack Obama in 2012 would be Sarah Palin as a presidential candidate.
- its time to wrap the NO culture of Washington around the necks of the GOP and the Teabag movement. They offer no ideas to counter ours. They say they are a bottom up organization, but its easy to fight that easily: have any legitimate progressive or democrat offer to debate a teabagger on a stage. THEN watch them fight internally about who that person should be. Chaos ensues. They dont have a leader because they are so fractured that it would be impossible to get them to agree on one!!! The simple act of forcing them to agree about something forces them apart. Divide and conquer.
- If they are so interested in leadership, then call them on it. Ask for specifics. Not just "renew the Bush tax cuts". If they are so concerned about the deficit and have an idea, I would LOVE to hear it and see the math behind it. Everybody loves to be against something. Its a lot harder to lead. As a "legitimate" movement, they now need to start providing solutions, NOT just protests, to every legislative idea. The SAME goes for the GOP, where even co-sponsors of legislation don't have the courage to vote for the bills they co-sponsor. These guys are not sign holders on the side of the road anymore. They are a legitimate political movement. We should be thankful. Its much easier to defeat them in the light of day.
- And lastly, we need to learn from them. Yes, they are a movement which has erupted nationally. We can argue about the hows or whys...... but they are there. How can we as a PROGRESSIVE movement get our OWN convention covered on all 3 news networks. How can WE re-establish our strength in the Democratic party, and give the American people the truth about who WE are, away from the DC based Democratic lobby that we are so often smeared by and suffer guilt by association.
Everybody needs courage. The Teabag Movement (god, whoever picked that name is obviously clueless) is a passing fad. We can defeat them easily. There is nothing to be afraid of, but we cannot be passive and think "surely people are smart enough to see how ridiculous these people are"....... they dont, especially when there is a news network dedicated to the glory of all they represent (in theory). They are pawns in the game however. If we defeat them, its always easier to defeat the Queen on the chessboard of politics: The GOP.
Get busy everyone.
