I am once again amazed by this community. You have rallied around someone who was hurt and scared. If you haven't read my last two diaries, please do so for the full story. There are over a thousand comments in each, so I don't expect you to read all of those but there are many great comments to be read if you choose to do so.
I just wanted to give another update on the situation. If you are interested read below the fold.
First of all, my nephew has received over 200 emails from all of you here. He told me he has not read them all yet, but plans to do so. He will respond to some, probably not all, but he wanted me to let you all know that he appreciates the kindness of everyone here.
Today I was able to get him enrolled in a school so he can finish his last few months of high school. Graduation should not be a problem. His first day of classes is on Monday. For his sake, I will not name the school, but I think he will really enjoy himself and have many opportunities to make new friends.
He has also informed me that he would like to become a member of Daily Kos. We just registered him, but as you all know, he must wait a week before posting a diary. I am excited about him being part of this community. I know you will all love on him and teach him so much. He admitted that he isn't a very political person, and that's ok. He hasn't had the opportunity to vote since he turned 18 but he plans to vote in the November elections. He's conservative, but I believe much of that is because of the school he attended and his upbringing. When given a choice, I believe he will be much more open minded in his beliefs.
Tomorrow I will be driving his parents car back to North Carolina and flying back to Florida. My nephew was contacted by his younger brother this morning and told that his parents had packed his belongings into boxes, and then donated them all to charity. His brother is 15 and has been told not to speak to him, so he had to make that call from a friends' phone. Apparently they found a copy of Out (a magazine) in his room and decided that he didn't have a right to keep anything.
On Sunday, my nephew will be attending a gay friendly church at his request. My family will attend with him for support. Today we spoke with the minister there and I believe my nephew will enjoy himself at the church.
Once again, thank you to this community for your love and support. You all make me proud!
UPDATE
Wish me luck. A friend and I will be driving my nephew's car (legally his parents) back to his parents. We will be leaving around midnight. I'll be sleeping for the first part of the trip. We figure that traveling overnight we can avoid a lot of traffic and get there quicker. We hope to arrive at their home before noon tomorrow. Thank you for the comments, I haven't had a chance to read them all but I know they are good.
My husband and I took my nephew out shopping for some new clothes and for pizza. This kid has lost everything he knows this week, and still when he saw someone who needed help on the side of the road he begged us to stop and help. He ended up changing an elderly lady's flat tire!
