I hadn't see the comments of Rep. Steve King (R-IA) diaried, and I thought they deserved a little attention. Because with all the attention paid to militias and airline alerts, earthquakes and unemployment, it is easy to take your eye off the ball.
Which would be a tragedy, because we all know the worst threat facing America today is...
(wait for it)
The Humane Society's attempt to "take meat off everyone’s table in America."
Meat off everyone's tables. Imagine.
Rep. King was upset that the local 4H Society invited the Humane Society to an event. His press release continues:
HSUS solicits money from well-intentioned but often uninformed animal lovers and uses these donations to lobby Congress for an anti-meat, anti-animal agriculture agenda.
Of course, the Humane Society really fights for animal welfare on a number of fronts. One is factory farming. Their website says they are "Working to reduce the suffering of animals raised for meat, eggs and milk." Note that they aren't working to eliminate the raising of meat, eggs and milk. But Steve King is no dummy. He cares about factory farming, because he knows that factory farming is where the campaign donations come from, and without factory farming the campaign donations dry up. And without campaign donations, democracy suffers.
Rep. King did not offer real proof, but I found something that is pretty much a smoking gun and will shock you (Warning: don't click on the link if you are of the faint of heart.) So I'm glad Rep. King has fired the first shot (metaphorically, you touchy minxes!) at the animal lovers out there that are dragging our country down.
So if you care about America. If you care about democracy. Please give generously now.
