RKBA is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion. RKBA stands for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Tom has our first blurb today:
Tennessee’s governor has vetoed a bill that would allow concealed-carry permit holders to carry in bars, citing "common sense:"

Too bad current law doesn’t actually protect anyone, the bill he vetoed would still prohibit armed patrons from drinking in bars, and his veto will probably put a Republican in the governor’s mansion. I guess his "common sense" is more important than winning re-election and continuing to govern.

And lastly, TG's Food for Thought:
I just don't understand the mindset that believes banning something will make it magically go away and no longer have any effect on the world. It has never worked, and isn't working now. Why should anyone think it will work if we try it yet again?
Banning alcohol? People still drank alcohol during Prohibition.
Marijuana is currently banned. People still smoke it.
Banning guns? Where this has happened, people still have guns -- generally, the people who shouldn't have them.
Sorry for the short blurb diary. Still recovering from sickness. -KV
