If you're even tangentially involved in politics, which you are because you're reading these words at The Daily Kos, then you know who Mike Huckabee is. Just to summarize, he is a former Governor of Arkansas, Republican Presidential candidate (2008), Baptist Minister and currently a champion of rapist's parental rights and PAC money launderer. If you've ever donated money to a campaign, Democrat, Republican or Independent, your email address has been farmed by one of his minions and you, in all likelihood, have received the same amazing email that I received this morning with many amazing facts contained within.
Let's have a look-see after the jump.
It begins with the subject line:
This Time A Federal Judge Got It Right!
This caught my eye since I know that Governor Huckabee thinks that the Gay is icky. Certainly he didn't think that Judge Walker's ruling is based on core constitution principles when the judge overturned California's Proposition 8. So what recent ruling could possibly get Governor Huckabee crowing? I opened up the email to have a look.
Finally, a Federal Judge has chosen to interpret the law rather than legislate from the bench.
I was pleased to read the ruling of U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson who permitted the lawsuit filed by Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli against Obamacare to move forward.
Oh, so this is about The Cooch in Virginia; a like minded rapist's rights crusader.
Judge Hudson in his 32 page ruling said, “While this case raises a host of complex constitutional issues, all seem to distill to the single question of whether or not Congress has the power to regulate –and tax – a citizen’s decision not to participate in interstate commerce.”
While it's true that the sentence quoted above does come from Judge Hudson's ruling, it's a little misleading. Judge Hudson is merely saying that it's not his place to decide willi-nilli whether the Federal Government has the right to penalize people for not participating in interstate commerce, in this case buying health insurance, and that he thinks that a trial is in order. Of course, Judge Hudson has failed to notice that the penalty provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has no actual enforcible penalty since "religious conviction" is specifically carved out of the penalty provision.
Now we get to the amazing facts:
The Attorney General of Virginia, who was endorsed by Huck PAC early on during his campaign for Attorney General, truly and correctly, articulated the heart of the issue, “this case is not about health care, so much as it is about liberty.”
The Federal Government, under the Obama Administration has expanded the reach of the government to the point that it intrudes into every aspect of our lives. Obamacare is perhaps the most pervasive step by the Administration to take away our liberty by requiring us to purchase a product that the majority of us do not want.
Emphasis mine. First, I haven't noticed President Obama or any of his assigned agents intruding anywhere near my house. The only thing I've noticed is that I pay less in federal taxes now than under George W. Bush. Second, is it true that a majority of Americans don't want health insurance? Governor Huckabee didn't provide any links or references so I couldn't check out his claim so I did a quickie poll of all of the awake people in my house (other then myself who definitely wants health insurance). The awake person said that he knows of no person, from liberal to right wing mouth breathing knuckle-dragger that didn't want health insurance.
That is why we must fight the attempts by the Obama Administration to take away our liberty. I congratulate and applaud Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli in having the courage to take on the Federal Government and defend the Constitution of the United States.
I know that many other state Attorney Generals are also fighting against the health care law and I hope that more states join the battle.
When pivotal moments present themselves to our leaders – it’s encouraging to know a Huck PAC endorsed candidate like Ken Cuccinelli will stand up for our freedoms.
I'm still a little in the dark here about what liberties are being taken away by President Obama.
Since the ruling, Ken has been taking many personal attacks from frustrated left wing special interest groups. I expect these attacks will continue and only escalate as this case moves through the courts.
I would like a list of these special interest groups so that I can make a donation.
Ken is leading the fight for those of us who are frustrated and angry with the unprecedented expansion of the federal government into our private lives. As a way of thanks, I am sending him a short thank you note which I would like you to co-sign.
You can find a copy of my letter here[link removed]. When I send this to Ken in a few weeks I would like nothing better than to be able to say to him that 25,000+ Americans joined me in expressing their thanks for his hard work on behalf of all of us.
Governor Huckabee can't even get 2000 people to join Team Huck, but I do wish him luck with his delusions.
