From the Urban Dictionary : What is a GOPper?
Mindless lemming of the Grand Old Party; a blind follower of the Republican Party. An adherent of the "My party, right or wrong" philosophy. A conservative tool. A Republican fool.
The hand-picked crowd of GOPpers lobbed softball questions to their fearless leader.
Yesterday, we had a great debate in which there was a general agreement that the Tea Bag Party (GOP) platform is ProtoFascist.
MORE IMPORTANTLY: There was also a concensus that The Tea Bag Party moniker needs to be loudly and relentlessly attached to the GOP. I agree. Let the GOP own the The Tea Party GOPpers.
Going viral with the title The Tea Party GOPpers, might be a concise enough a title to do just that. So
DO NOT BE COMPLACENT. This is the fight of our lifetimes. Better ideas?
PERHAPS you can think of a better title that will tie the two together to help voters see the Tea Baggers as GOP cheer leaders. If so, and please let's keep this civil, drop one below. Snark is welcome, but can we play nice because the 10.2.10 March on Washington is linked. Thanks.
We must stop The Tea Bag GOPers and all GOP from entering into the Halls of Congress.
We have enough problems to correct within those Halls already (think of the small herd of health care ponies that were set free from the corral of The Health Care Insurance Reform Bill).
I am still not convinced that the self-named Tea Party is not part of a GOP back room strategy contrary to their televised ire Tuesday night, although many made some good arguments to the contrary in yesterday's diary linked above.
I can't help but wonder, as I try to channel the Rovarian/Chrystal-like brains, if all isn't going exactly according to plan. The Tea Party has just been too well-marketed and brilliantly branded to have been a GOP accident.
And, if no accident, if actually a part of a larger game plan, it has set off many alarms because, when I read history, I see history. The movie (cue the elephants, no pun), in technicolor is simultaneously projected onto the screen of my mind as I read.
I have seen this movie before and it didn't end well for the average citizens.
You have seen it, too. Actually, we have seen many movies where the ruthless wealthy corporate powers hire (so we can elect) their pawns to do their bidding within the Halls of Congress - to write laws to screw the people and enrich themselves.
In some movies, if the corporations and Congress get away with this long enough, they seek their next thrill, POWER, because, at some point, just accumulating wealth and honors ceases to get them high.
This is when things begin to get ugly.
This is where we are at.
In order for the multi-nationals, who have worked hard for decades to reap resources from all corners of the globe, to bump up their game, people must lose their rights so the MNs can enjoy ultimate power. Slavery, in my mind, was just as much about having POWER as it was cheap labor. Power is a slavish addiction. It's ironic, really.
The Madison Avenue Ad Boys that I am certain helped to launch the Tea Party earned their pay this time.
The Tea Party spin off was cleverly designed, although a re-run from so many stories of history. All the Ad Boys had to do was think up ways to create and incite The Angry Mob.
Millions, maybe more, have been spent creating their Angry Mob. Fox news has dedicated the better part of a year doing their part.
Glenn Beck was hired and agreed to be the Messiah of the Angry Mob, seemingly lacking any conscience of the potential harm he might do. Some Messiah!
And here we are.
IF we are too complacent, or conversely, if we are not motivated enough to work tirelessly to defeat any/all Tea Bag GOPpers, where ever they may presently running, we could fall down a rabbit hole.
IF we fall down this rabbit hole, the worst movie in history could be written. A movie that could make Freddie Krueger look like Mr. Rogers.
It won't be another Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
Why?
Well, picture your neighborhood with no police, teachers, or firemen.
Picture a neighborhood where, for a semblance of protection, you have to pay The Boss and His/Her Gang.
Picture your neighborhood looking like neighborhoods all over the world where business/ government pals feather their nests and leave the rest of their countries to fend for themselves.
Picture living in Third World America. Some already are, btw, sadly.
So, yes, BRAND THE TEA PARTY ON THE ELEPHANT'S ARS!
Tirelessly, relentlessly, and spread the word far and wide.
Think about this, if you are not convinced that we might be facing perilous times:
Fox News and its paid puppets promote ProtoFascist sentiments by fomenting fear and hatred they know will resonate and enrage their listeners who have deep seated prejudice and phobias. They even gave them a name: Tea Baggers. Classy.
We all know that behind this are powerful men with panache and piles and piles of pecuniary power, as in the Koch Brothers and multi-nationals, enriched polluters who care little for the land or the people.
We also know that many of the same multi-nationals that funded the Nazis, Franco's Spain, Salazar's Portugal, Papadopoulos' Greece, Pinochet's Chile, Argentina, and Suharto's Indonesia fund Christian conservatism worldwide.
We must ask ourselves:
If they were not averse in profiting from the horrors that were WWII, not averse in conspiring with despots and demogogues for power and profit in country after country, and not averse to the pain and death that resulted, why would we think they would be averse to harming the good people of America for profit and power?
They are not averse to causing pain here. Look around. We are witnessing the rise of ProtoFascism as the profiteers fund their necessary tool: The Angry Mob/Haters
True story:
I have a friend who is math phobic, two kids, working, and full-time student.
She only needs her math classes to get her degree.
She came over last night for some tutoring.
I mentioned that yesterday's diary was well received.
She asked what the title was.
I told her: The Gloves are Off: The Tea Bag Party is ProtoFascist
And then she said "THE TEA PARTY, THEY'RE THE GOOD GUYS RIGHT?"
Remember, she's a bright woman. You could have knocked me over with a feather when she said that.
SO, we have some work to do.
We need to reach outside of our circles.
NY brit expat wrote this great diary today: Schadenfreude is fine, but remember the bigger picture where he quotes a Professor/Pastor from 1938.
I copied the original article here for you. This was part of one of Professor Luccock's sermons so it includes references to God and morals. For some, this would be cause celebre to disregard and discount what the Prof has to say. I invite you to read the entire sermon. You see, in Professor Luccock's day, Pastors preached about the rights of people, even the rights of labor to bargain collectively. They taught that God is Love.
And I think most of us agree that Love of One Another is one of the cohesive factors for why we stand up with others who have a grievance, even if it isn't our personal grievance.
I share this because it was so prescient to what we see spewing from the Tea Party GOPpers. The Professor warned us about the Tea Party 22 years ago!
