Everyone told me to give a lot of extra time flying out of Detroit this morning. With extra security measures, I was advised to arrive "at least two hours" before departure. I thought this was a ludicrous exaggeration, but I arrived an hour an a half before my flight, just in case.
I parked at 9:10 am, walked to the terminal, checked in, went through security, and was sitting bored at my gate by 9:22.
So, I walked back a bit, had a steak egg and cheese bagel, and am on my second cup of coffee. Luckilly, my iPhone gets dailykos quite nicely, or I'd be forced to buy another Dean Koontz novel or something.
I'm flying to d.c. for an awards ceremony. Once again, our little political consulting and marketing company has become finalists for a slew of Reed Awards from Politics magazine. This was the company that came out of that little Judgment viral ad you all made popular in 2008, so I continue to owe you for all that continued support!
Anyhoo, if anyone feels so inclined to share an airport success or nightmare story, it'd sure keep me company for the next hour or two. How did my 10 minute total checkin experience today compare to your latest trip? What do you do to allay airport boredom? Internet on the cell? Newspaper? Novel? Audio book? Drinks at the airport bar?
