I've posted a couple diaries in the last few weeks that have been about my recent forays into the school of economic thought called MMT or Chartalism. In my last diary I had a link to Warren Mosler paper called the "7 Deadly Innocent Frauds" which discussed many issues which we hear discussed weekly that just arent accurately portrayed. Government finance in fiat currency regime is vastly different than under a gold standard (where much of our economic thinking and language emerged) and I think it is imperative for reaching our full economic potential that we understand this.
In my last diary I spoke about Warren Mosler and told you that he is running for president in 2012. I have sent his campaign money so that he can become a voice in the discussion. I cant say for sure that I would totally support and vote for him in 2012, thats too far off, but I do know that I WANT to hear what he has to say about how we as a country have mismanaged our economic/financial system. I would think judging by his ideas here:

that there would be much that this progressive community could get behind. One thing I hope is true about this community and the people who call this site home is that we are willing to explore new ideas and ask intelligent questions.
I've talked to Warren via email and asked him to open an account here at DKos so he can post and comment in diaries. He said he would do so soon. When he does, I hope this community engages him and his ideas with an open mind and tries to see if we can learn something from him. I really think his ideas should and would be embraced by the progressive community once we understand where he is coming from.
Here is a recent post from Billy Mitchell at billy blog that talks about ideology and MMT
