I know just about everybody here already realizes that, even if many of us wish it had gone further with more money devoted to actual job creation than there was. But let's face it, over and over we hear from Republicans and the media, that the stimulus didn't do squat. Well, I was pleasantly surprised today when I checked on CNN's money site and saw the top article.
Check out this story. . Basically, it emphatically states that Kokomo, IN would be a ghost town if it weren't for the stimulus and the auto bail out. Some of the quotes are great.
"We wouldn't be standing here," said Brian Harlow, a 32-year Chrysler veteran who grew up in Kokomo and now is based at the company's headquarters outside Detroit. "It would have been a ghost town."
Or check this out:
Auto parts manufacturer Delphi will use an $89 million stimulus grant to retain 100 manufacturing jobs and make 100 additional hires at a facility building parts for hybrid vehicles.
And a Colorado solar company plans to use $300 million in stimulus funds to hire as many as 900 workers at an old Daimler auto plant south of town that will make products to export to Europe.
Imagine that, making products to actually export. Wow.
So next time you hear the argument the stimulus didn't work, direct people to this.
