This isn't a real diary but not really a rant either however, Nov. 2 can't get here fast enough. If I get one more phone call from and unidentified stranger about the elections I am going to scream. One thing I can say is the GOTV machine in IL is in full effect...on both sides.
I'm a registered Democrat and I've actually already voted. I was hoping that would show up in somebody's database. I Guess not because I get atleast 5-6 calls a day regarding the election. However, on those occasions that I do answer my landline the calls are about how bad the opponent is and not necessarily why I should vote for the the candidate they are calling about. In past elections I've never rec'd anything from the republican candidates. I mean I'm supposedly not in their demo. Under 40 AA woman. But this year I guess they have a lot of extra money from the chamber of commerce because I've gotten so many republican calls and mailers. I just got a robo call from Mark Kirk today.
I'm hopeful the difference in this election is US...the people. We've got to stop listening to the rat race, pundits, and polls that tell us all is lost and do all we can to GOTV for the Dems. That is the only thing we should be focused on now. At this point most folks have made up their minds. Whether that is driving people to the polls, making those dreaded phone calls (I'm really nice to those who call on behalf of the Dems and I offer encouragement because you can tell that for some of them this is their first time-that inspires me), send reminders to our friends, family, and neighbors through twitter, facebook, e-mail, or good old fashioned phone calls. As a matter of fact I'm taking my 93 year old grandmother to vote today. It took some convincing and it's pretty chilly and windy here today which is tough on those with ailments but she's going anyway. She didn't want to let the President down. So, although I can't wait for Nov. 2, there is still alot of work to be done between now and then and we've got to focus, focus, and focus some more.
GOTV!!!!!!
