And here we are again, with another rant in A Minor, wherein I get down to the real reason why TeaBaggers are Mad As Hell and Not Going to Take This Anymore.
Like all good progressives, K.O. lives up to his namesake by Knocking This One out of the Part.
However, before I continue this rant in A Minor, let me get this out of the way...
For those of you living in the Volunteer State, more specifically in the Eastern half of the state, (or as I like to call it, "The Really Rotten Republican Region." Starring Zack Wamp playing the part of Dick Dastardly and Bill Haslam as Muttley) you might think progressive voices are few and far between, but you would be wrong.
Don't believe me? Well, have I got news for you, True Believer. Go here and be enlightened. Show them some love.
With that out of the way, we now return you to your scheduled rant already in progress.
You know, I really don't want to get off on a Rant here, but...
Much ink, virtual and otherwise, has been spilled over what will happen if the TeaBaggers take power, or how voting these Dull-Eyed Mouth-breathers will be the precursor to the Apocalypse. While yr. humble blogger doesn't disagree with these notions, I have noticed that there's been little attention on what will happen if they don't make the gains they've been saying they will make.
Indeed, and so much for that garbage. Actually, there has been some discussion on what will happen if they don't get what they want. Sharron Angle has more or less been touting the much vaunted "Second Amendment Solution" as a solution, while The Retarded Reverend of the Texas 30th, Stephen Broden says that armed insurrection is "not the first option".
Let that one sink in for a moment. Armed Insurrection is not the first option? It shouldn't even be the first option and this is part of of what angers me, saddens me, and makes me somewhat fearful for the future of our nation as a whole entity.
First, it makes me fearful because these Well-Intentioned Extremists believe hard. They are perfectly willing to kill the very country that allows them to say whatever poisonous thing they want, and not have to worry about a bullet in the back in the head or a lifetime spent in a shitty little prison in the jungle or desert. They are willing to go to great lengths to keep what they have, and don't you bet they will fight for it. Why this is more problematic than in times past is for a specific reason which I will get to in the summary.
It saddens me because this is not what this country was about. It was Not about overthrowing the government or completely shrinking the size of government to where you can take into the bathroom and drown it in the tub. We had a chance to go libertarian, but that time is past. Only a radical change is going to cause that to occur, and many people will die before the thing stabilizes. It was not what I was taught that made this country great. What makes this country great is that people have a chance to live a comfortable life, relatively free. That isn't what we have now, and if you think these Republican Retards are going to bring that, then The Matrix has you, Neo.
What makes me angry....What really makes me scream "What in the Tympani FUCK! are you people thinking?!?" is this: These corporatist con-artists will sell your ass down the river as soon as it is convenient to do so, and at fire sale prices to boot. These people are interested in two things: Money and power. Power to allow them to do things for their rich friends, and money to keep them in office as long as it takes.
Now, here's the reason why this has happened and why it's even worse, in many ways, than what was going on during Clinton's administration:
I will bet you good money that if you were to ask them, a vast majority of the TeaBaggers would say a multitude of things they are mad at but if you go back to when it started, to a man and woman, every single one of them would say the same thing:
"It was when that ****** stole that election from Sarah Palin and McCain."
(note, I was raised to not say that particular word, it is unprintable, and I don't have the right to say that word....ever.)
How many Republicans have stated publicly that they want to bring Obama down? How many prominent ones are actively seeking to bring an end to Obama's presidency? Most if not all of them, I'd wager. That's what saddens me the most is that there is no compromise in the legislative process anymore. It's "Me first, and fuck you all!"
OF course, that's just my opinion...I could be wrong.
