Wherein a lone voice in the millions that are currently unemployed speaks on the upcoming elections and rumors that many of his fellow Democrats are going to "sit this one out"
Time to get out the chainsaw...
So here I am, jobless after ten months. I could blame it on the Democrats, as certain people seem to do. The evidence is pretty strong. After all, it's these very same Democrats that have either been hoodwinked by members of their own party (Blanche Lincoln, I am looking at YOU!) or have been fooled by Republicans thinking they would get what they want if they played along.
I could blame it on Obama. And frankly, he does share a good portion of the blame, if for no other reason than being too nice to these no-talent Asshats. If I were to sit down and have a beer with him, this is what I would ask:
Pardon my French, Mr. President, but what the fuck makes you think that they were going to give you what you wanted if you give them what they wanted? You do understand that what they want is Your Job, the House of Representatives and The Senate, right? They want to turn back the clock to when the Republican party was firmly in control of at least two (if not three if you count the SCOTUS) branches of government, and they are willing to do anything to get it. Why do you insist on giving them what they want? They have no interest in giving you anything except a lovely parting gift when you leave on January 20th of 2013. And that, Mr. Obama, is exactly what will happen if you don't take bold action now. Do whatever you have to do. Sign a Executive Order or three, do whatever it takes. If they are willing to go to great lengths to get back in control, then by Athena, you should to.
And while I am on a roll here, let me turn my Evil Eye to those claiming to "sit this one out." If you fuckers are going to sit this one out, then do me a favor and go sit on a bunch of carpet tacks.
Hurts, don't it? That is exactly the kind of pain and suffering you will be subjecting the rest of us who do care to because you abandoned ship while the captain was in the mess hall. If you "sit this one out", you will be handing Republicans a win here, because you can damn sure bet that they will not sit this one out.
Look, I get it. I am just as frustrated as you are that he's willing to throw progressives under the bus in the name of getting the center. I am not happy that he's continuing many of the same troubling things that the Shrub administration started. I am pissed off that I am still out of work after 10 months, which is the longest I have gone without a job, even though there were promises of getting the economy back on track.
I am mad, but not mad enough to put Republicans back in the driver's seat. Because I know the Democrats at least have ideas. They may not be the best ideas, but they are a damn sight better than the ones the Republicans are proposing.
For those that think they're not really going to do what they say they are going to do, like repeal health care or any of that. I would say this: Hello!?! Have you not been paying attention? Why in the tympani fuck do you think they released the Contract with America version 2.0?? They're playing from the same playbook in 1994. They figured that it could work now as it did then. And here's why it worked: Progressives abandoned ship in 1994 largely because Clinton threw them under the bus when it was convenient for him to do so. So much so, the Republicans maintained a majority in both the House and Senate long after Clinton left...
And we all know how well that turned out don't we? No, as much as I would like to stick it to them to send them a message, I want the Democrats to win. I want to send a clear message to the mainstream media that you're not always right, and you clearly have become irrelevant in this modern media age. I want to send a clear message to Democrats that you need to get off your asses, grow a set of brass balls and FIGHT! I want to send a clear message to Obama and his team that if you don't Fight for What you Believe in, you will lose and you will only have yourself to blame.
Of course, I'm probably just wishful thinking, because if it's one thing I can see, getting Democrats to agree on any fucking thing is like herding cats. And that, my friends, is why the Republicans continue to beat us. I may disagree with many of the things they say, but I cannot deny that they are always On Message, something which the current Democrats seemed to have forgotten. How the hell else can you explain why the two moderate Republican senators from Maine, whose position on DADT has been quite clear, still couldn't bring themselves to vote it down. I can imagine that McConnell more than likely made it very clear that he is willing to throw ANYONE in his party under the bus if they don't stay on message. They have done it, why can't we do the same?
Of Course, that's just my opinion...I could be wrong.
