The First Amendment to the United States Constitution reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ...."
If that is true, then why are religious groups involved with and defining "womens' care" under the health care bill? Isn't following the stricture of one group sanctioning the establishment of a religion? Isn't allowing a medical professional to withhold treatment because of religious beliefs establishing a religion for a country? Why/how does claiming a medical procedure a "sin" against a religion make the procedure illegal, and yet it does not uphold the establishment of that religion?
There are "Christian" groups who have decided that they know more of what is right for you than you or your spouse or parents. Or your doctor. These are religious groups who demand that we live their way, believe what they do and are demanding that people must do as they say. But only on "womens' health" issues, not males'. (These are the same groups who want to outlaw one entire religion.)
Pregnancy happens only to females. Yet we can not determine what is best for us or the life we are growing inside us. Pregnancy is caused by just one act-the binding of sperm and egg. Now, a game of "what if"?
What if all the fuss was about erectile dysfunction medications? There are many causes of this from injury to medication to simply getting older. What if the only legal reason for receiving this medication was because of injury done to the scrotum directly. Not to the penis, rendering blood flow insufficient to raise the organ. Not as a side effect from blood pressure medicine or anxiety drugs. But only because the "boys got squished flat". Penal malfunction is not a life-threatening condition. Just because "the guy won't stand up" doesn't mean you'll die.
If the fetus implants in the fallopian tube, the mother will die. Because the fetus grows too large for the tiny tube, the tube ruptures and she bleeds to death internally, among other reasons. Or sometimes the growing cells just die and the poison is carried through her system and then she dies.
Ladies, how successful would you be if you tried to rape a guy? He doesn't want sex but you do, so you force it on him. And fail because he doesn't get hard. He tries to rape you because he wants sex and you don't. He succeeds, it's up, and now you're gonna grow a human being inside you, whether you want to or not. Whether you are capable of it or not. ( According to one religion, she is responsible for the rape, not the male. She is the one punished, and punished by her death. And that religion is also the political process for a large world population)
Only have one working kidney, Mama? And that one will be over-taxed with the growth inside? Too bad, must keep the growth, kidney dialysis is too expensive, make do. Baby planted in the wrong place? So sorry. Baby not forming normally? It is "God's Will." Father and brother and uncle raped you? So very sorry, put the baby up for adoption and see your pastor. The father rapes you and beats you up and locks you in a room all day while he goes out? Maybe if you weren't such a bad person he wouldn't do these things. Have the baby and he will stop because you will have made him happy. You aren't ready to have a child yet and you want to prevent conception? That is selfish and wrong and not in the best interests of Society. "Abortion is wrong, it is a sin, it is a form of population control." Really? Even if the fetus is born to a homeless woman, or a female age 14, or of legally borderline mental function, or fully mentally dysfunctional. Or totally paralyzed. Or an alcoholic or drug addict or imprisoned or has tried to commit suicide because she's preggers and will try again. "Abortion is wrong and a sin and has no place in today's medical practice".
Why is it that women's sexual problems and conditions are covered under the law but males' aren't? Why is it that females can not decide what is right for them and the fetus that they are growing? Why is it that females must abide by the morals of a group but males do not?
Why is is so impossible for "Christian Groups" and "Good God-fearing People" to abide by their own principles? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. What laws are in place that strictly affect males, and males only? What laws are in place to deny a male health care for a "normal medical condition"? With or without the morality question.
In short, who has the God (and/or Goddess and/or Nature) Given reason to decide how a medical condition should be treated? And pregnancy is nothing more or less than a medical condition.
So I suppose, being female, I have a right and reason to speak out about abortion, birth control, and health care. Being human I want the right to make my own choices and give to other people the same right to make their choices. Being a true Christian, I treat others as they treat me. If a person knowingly causes pain to others then that same pain shall be visited upon him. That is the True Christian Way.
Please let me have the ability to deny "them" a medical treatment. Please! That is what they want to do, that is what they have done. Shouldn't they be treated as they treated others...? Isn't that the Christian Way? Isn't this a "Christian Nation"?
In closing, this story is a partner, in a way, to this one, which I found in Daily Kos. I stole a sentence as my signature:

The moment a fetus has more rights than the woman carrying it, is the moment that women become slaves to that fetus.
