While my respect for Keith Olbermann knows no bounds, I cannot find find any energy to protest his suspension.
I tried. I really did. I wrote a half-hearted defense of Keith to Phil what's-his-fcuk thanks to mizzum's diary.
But I have to admit. I don't care.
I don't watch television.
Ergo, I don't watch MSNBC.
I don't really participate in TV culture, except where it intersects my Netflix subscription.
That MSNBC is a poor corporate entity barely registers on my radar of outrage (granted, it's been pegged at artery-bursting for several years now). They're throwing away good money after bad. I can't remember the last time I worked at a company that DIDN'T do that. It's modus operandi of Corporate America(tm).
Why MSNBC wants to silence KO is open to awesome speculation. He likes the gay. He's liberal. He's too tall. He's annoying in the green room. Who cares!? They're willing to walk into oblivion with Joe Scarborough for any number of (also purely speculative) ideas: Joe's got good taste in beer, he's nice in the green room, he likes the gay. Siht if I care.
Keith is awesome, and I will no doubt continue to enjoy his excellent commentary on the blogosphere independent of whether I donate to his campaign or even if I particularly like the guy personally. The sooner MSNBC disappears, the better, and if they've got to suck JS to blow KO, so be it. It's neither here nor there to me. It's just one less channel on the television I have a good excuse not to watch.
