Little acts of sanity with a little courage. I'm so proud of him. However, his stand against Republicans today was unfortunately mitigated by some sobering news.
My husband walks the track at a neighborhood park here in Chicago It's a polling place but he noticed that huge signs for Kirk and Brady were wired to the fence of the park. It is a polling place, and the signs were legally more than 100 feet from the polls. But he was sure it was illegal to attach signs directly to park property.
He went in and got a seemingly clueless Republican worker who "wondered what those signs were. 100 feet from polling, etc." My husband said he'd be calling the Board of Elections to find out exactly what the rule was, and the Republican worker "remembered" that it was a no-no.
My husband came back and the signs were still up. He asked to speak to the election judge. My husband would not leave until the election judge came out with wirecutters and removed the signs. Republican workers in a car, came out and said, "what the f---- are you doing" and were informed that the signs were illegal.
Yea, hubby!
Two pieces of sobering news, however: there are no signs anywhere for Alexi or Quinn. Anywhere. Now that Mayor Daley is not running, he doesn't give a fuck about Democrats in this state. No one came to the house this year. No one.
The especially sobering news: my husband was the 90th person to vote at 10:30 a.m. That is abysmal.
If my Democratic, North side Chicago precinct can't get out to vote, I am not hopeful for the election results in Illinois.
VOTE!
