Why is it that when it comes to tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, Blue Dog Democrats stand with Republicans instead of upholding PAYGO rules?
Perhaps Ben Bernanke's call for stimulus is worth noting - that further steps are needed to stimulate job creation and economic growth. But if that's the case, then tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans are the worst way to do it.
Liberals outraged about the tax giveaway should ask their Blue Dog colleagues to stand up for PAYGO and make sure that the revenue lost is recovered through other revenue enhancements or spending cuts.
Fair's fair.
My 2 year old daughter can't vote, but she already has inherited the $13 trillion debt created by 30 years of Bushonomics and Reaganomics. I absolutely refuse to support those who would heap even more debt on her, especially at a time when record Wall Street bonuses have combined with 10% unemployment to create a completely unfair economic system.
I support President Obama and oppose the Senate Republicans who are holding tax cuts hostage. But if we're serious about solving problems and what Obama calls "the long view," it's imperative that we focus all our efforts on job creation, not some idiotic Fred Thompson/Mike Huckabee BS rhetoric about property rights.
A note to my Republican friends: You don't have a right to property unless you also decide to own the $13 trillion of debt that you created with your irresponsibility and idiocy.
And you want to talk about being a Christian nation? How about this:
"To whom much is given, much will be required."
"Render to Caesar what is Caesar's."
"Sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven."
"Whatever you do for the least of these my brothers, you do it unto me."
Why is it that American Republican Evangelical Christians completely ignore the teaching of Christ when it comes to money and charity? You'd think the only thing Jesus ever taught about was abortion and gay marriage. As it turns out, he taught about neither.
Appeals to charity are great, but I refuse to give away trillions of dollars while we're fighting wars in two foreign countries. Our men and women in uniform have sacrificed their lives for the sake of this nation. I think billionaires can afford to give up a few extra million.
[Rant Over.]
