Secret Joint Raid Captures Taliban's Top Commander
The Taliban's top military commander was captured several
days ago in Karachi, Pakistan, in a secret joint operation by
Pakistani and American intelligence forces, according to
American government officials.
The commander, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, is an Afghan
described by American officials as the most significant
Taliban figure to be detained since the American-led war in
Afghanistan started more than eight years ago. He ranks
second in influence only to Mullah Muhammad Omar, the
Taliban's founder, and was a close associate of Osama bin
Laden before the Sept. 11 attacks.
Mullah Baradar has been in Pakistani custody for several
days, with American and Pakistani intelligence officials both
taking part in interrogations, according to the officials.

Hmmm... What was Dick Cheney saying about this administration not knowing about being at war, blah, blah, blah?
Well, it seems that this guy has been in Pakistani custody for several days and is being questioned by US and Pakistani authorities. Whether he is talking or not, the article says is unclear. The hope though, is that he has information that can lead to other Taliban leaders.
Does this mean we're winning? No, of course not. But this is good news. We seem to be catching more these guys and getting more information from them then ever before.
And we aren't, as far as we can tell, pouring buckets of water over them to get that information.
Go intel is always crucial, and this might help us on the battlefield. BU the two most important things to me- 1) Any intel than can keep even one soldier from getting hurt or killed is excellent news, and 2) It continues to make Dick Cheney live up to his nickname.
