I got an e-mail from politico about 10 mins ago and to me this is the closest that anyone in the leadership as come to saying that they HAVE the votes on healthcare to pass it Sunday.
The quote below the fold tells me they have the votes or are VERY VERY close.
I didnt put breaking because I didnt think it was as warranted as my diary from yesterday...
This from politico....
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Friday that Democrats will be able to pass health reform by Sunday. "We'll have the votes when the roll is called," Hoyer said. The Democrats top vote-counter, Rep. James Clyburn, agreed. "I feel very sure that we'll vote on this some time Sunday, and the bill will pass," Clyburn said.
The leadership really hasn't been willing to make sure big statements like this. I know people will say they HAVE to say this and that is not true... Clyburn has been quiet all week the fact that he is saying something MEANS something
Maybe the fact that Engel and Boccieri are now firm YES has pushed this over the edge...
Here are the diaries on Boccieri and Engel
