It is incumbent in me to write this Diary in order to clear my mind of a burning question. In 2010 as a society have our views on actual abortions changed ? The Woman's right to chose has been upgraded with more and better choices of birth control, and sex education for young adults and youths programs for batter and victimized women. Go back to 1973 the scene was much different there was no morning after pill no Twitter or Face-book no world wide web full of information. To be clear the writer wants to understand that as our society has changed drastically in the past decade not to mention the last 40 years. Have we and should we change our view on how we approach preventing unwanted pregnancies by making it a part of our social conversation.
Hardcore Pro-life people are willing to kill to stop what they claim is Murder. The Law of the land is clear. My question is how are we so ready to take up the cause to fight for a Woman rights to end a pregnancy but unwilling to talk about it in the correct context. Under what rock must you be living in 2010 as a vibrant normal 18 year old man or woman to not know that sex causes pregnancies. And to that end for the man you have protection you can wear to prevent and as a woman you have at your disposal a myriad of contraceptives and even a morning after pill. My simple point is that the "excuse" to have an abortion is very thin these days and perhaps we should say so as a society. Not in a demanding way but in a loving way. I realize that Women feel they sometimes have no power and that their womb belongs to them. I'm going to say this for shock value and pure lack of a better message. "IF YOU GOING TO BE FUCKING FOR FUN REMEMBER ABORTIONS ARE NOT FUCKING FUNNY".
