Lately, tea has been given a bad name around here. I'll admit, I'm not a tea-drinker myself, preferring to start the day with my usual quad venti caramel latte. However, I do respect this wonderful beverage that has sadly become associated with right-wing ideologues. Just Google Tea Party: you have to go down to the 6th option for something actually focusing on the beverage, not politics.
One country wants to change that perception in the US. This country also happens to be the world's #1 exporter of tea. That country is...Kenya.
Wait...Kenya? The country we hear about every week as being the "secret birthplace" of our 44th President? Tied to the beverage "claimed" by the same people making the accusations? This is just too perfect.
Know who else thinks it's too perfect? The Kenyan Embassy in Washington DC. That's why they're hosting a Real Tea Party next Tuesday at the US Capitol.
I say good for you, Kenyan Embassy, for approaching the ridiculousness of both the Tea Partiers and the Birthers with the humor they deserve, while simultaneously pointing out your best export.
Well, besides that secret Kenyan that became our President.
