Good evening DailyKos, Its ProgressiveTokyo from the Land of the Rising Sun signing in for one of my monthly (bi-monthly.. tri-monthly anyway) diaries.
I hope you will at least follow below the fold, cause it does get better.
I promise...
So one of my favorite hobbies is going to off the wall discussion forums (some quite conservative) and debating with conservatives. It gives me a bit of perspective, and keeps my wits sharp.
Well anyway recently I was at a forum (I will keep all names annonymous )which to say tends conservative is to say this place is a little bit to the left of center (Im looking at you OnePissedOffLiberal!!).
And recently (as usual) they were making the mountain out of the "scandal" which was the so-called snub President Obama gave to Prime Minister Hatoyama (if you havent heard of it.. read Drudge..I guess, who knows where they get this stuff).
And I informed them that this was insanity, and that there wasnt a peep from the Japanese media..you know.. reality.
Anyhow.. to make a long flamewar short.. I was told that:
We do indeed have a different idea of "reality". We've never thought of our leaders as Gods. Quite the opposite.
Now this was an obvious reference of "The One".. you know that propagana crap back in the Election?
Well.. here was my reply, and when I was done typing it I just knew I had to share it here.
Cheers and much love!!
xxname removedxx I dont believe in Gods at all, and I know President Barack Obama is very much a human being. A fallable one indeed. Ive read his books, plenty of dirt there for sure. And he is human in my eyes, which is how I could relate when I first joined the campaign. Standing up against unsurmountable odds against the Hillary machine seemed impossible, but we did it. And never once did we believe he was a god.. not once. Just the man who could get the message and maybe do a bit of good in the world. Like we all want to do.
Still feel he is trying, even against what seems like insurrmountable resistence to change. But even in campaign he never lied and said it would be easy, even as I grit my teech against some of the decisions he has made (LGBT issues especially for my brother who would like to serve in the Marines, but who is openly gay. Smart guy he is man, computer whiz. Wants to join..can`t. And even more who joined and worry every day of being found out). So yeah, Ive got issues.
But I support him still, and hold his feet to the fire I will.
But those who would only crticize and offer no real solutions? Ive got no time for that.
And thats me siging out.

You know how we roll...
