This is surely a joke I thought, but no.
The GOP didn't have much of a plot before, but WOW!
Not much shocks me, but this did.
It is being reported that Republicans have been brainstorming on ways to control the immigrant population. (Maybe they should have tried to locate a brain between them before they embarked on that journey).

An Iowa Republican congressional candidate says he supports inserting microchips into illegal immigrants to track their movements, noting that's how he keeps track of his dog.
Speaking at a forum Monday in Toledo, 3rd District Republican candidate Pat Bertroche said police should catch illegal immigrants and document their whereabouts.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported that he added, "I can microchip my dog so I can find it. Why can't I microchip an illegal?"
Just to double check myself I looked elsewhere to verify this madness.

I can think of no other rumor to better destroy the Republicans' chances at the polls than for America's 30 million Latinos to fear that Republicans want to implant them with microchips, like dogs. And in this case, the rumor is true.

"I actually support micro-chipping them. I can micro-chip my dog so I can find it. Why can’t I micro-chip an illegal?
"That’s not a popular thing to say, but it’s a lot cheaper than building a fence they can tunnel under," Bertroche said.
I see the GOP's Latino outreach efforts are continuing apace.

Bertroche has since backtracked from his remarks, saying he doesn’t "support microchipping anybody" and it never occurred to him that he "was comparing dogs to illegal immigrants." His intention was to "illustrate a social commentary on how radical" the immigration debate has become. (HT: Jason Linkins, Iowa Independent)
