It seems there has been so many disasters as of late, in particular earthquakes, but this oil company made disaster does deserve your attention too.
I have read far too many posts saying, "I will not pay for BP's disaster, they made this mess, they need to fix it". Sadly this disaster is just too terrible for the people of the gulf, and the wildlife in the gulf region. There are reports now that this disaster will travel around Florida and go up the west coast. We can not afford to sit on our hands because we are pissed at British Petroleum.
Please take some time do some research and help.
I compiled a list of organizations mobilizing in the Gulf region to help out with the relief effort. You can research them here and decide for yourself if you would like to volunteer or help with the relief effort.
Global Green USA-
As we write from Global Green’s New Orleans’ office — which we opened in response to Hurricane Katrina to help this great city rebuild better, healthier, and greener — our nation and the world sadly yet again watches Louisiana in growing horror as a catastrophic environmental disaster begins to exact its heavy toll on America.
We mourn first for the 11 immediate victims who lost their lives when BP Oil's deep drill rig exploded last week. These hard working Americans, just like the 29 coal miners recently killed in West Virginia, lost their lives to provide us with the energy we need to maintain our modern lives by working in one of the world's most dangerous industries - carbon intensive energy production.
We are just now starting to consider the second wave of victims as millions of gallons of oil begins its march - without apparent end - onto Louisiana's shores, as well as our Gulf coast neighbors
The National Wildlife Federation-
Wildlife and wild places are facing the worst ecological disaster in U.S. history.
If they’re going to get through it, they’re going to need your help.
Please donate today when wildlife needs you most.
The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies
IMMS is a non-profit organization, so every little bit helps. Making a monetary donation is the best way that you can help in assisting with animal rescue efforts.
It can be very costly to rescue and rehabilitate a dolphin. The cost of completely rehabilitating a single dolphin can be anywhere from $50,000 - $100,000.

International Bird Rescue Research Center-
The team of four wildlife rescue experts will be led by oil spill veteran and IBRRC Director, Jay Holcomb, who has responded to 200+ oil spills around the world, including the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill. The team will be working to support local wildlife groups and other organizations as preparations continue for the potential of wildlife casualties from the Deepwater Horizon spill.
Pascugoula River Audobon Center
Please leave these actions to the professionals. However, if you do come into contact with an oiled bird please call 1-866-557-1401. We are anticipating the need for trained oiled wildlife rehabilitators along the gulf coast. If you are interested in being trained to help wash oiled birds, please Click HERE. We are compiling a list for possible workshops and certification to do this work. We do not have any confirmation on who will be conducting the workshops, but we will compile the list of possible volunteers to be trained, and transferred to the entity that will spear head the efforts. National Audubon is organizing efforts to compile volunteers on a national level. We will keep everyone posted on these efforts. Once again, please stay off the beaches until we know exactly where the oil will arrive. We are being inundated with phone calls for volunteer request, please use the link to submit your information.

Oh and please do everything you can and find a Democratic candidate that can and hold a Democratic Primary against Gene Taylor.
Unbelievable, this guy is an A$$
"The oil is naturally breaking up as it gets closer to shore," he said.
Taylor described some areas containing crude oil looking like "chocolate milk."
"The good news is that the farther you get from the site where the rig had been it is naturally dispersing between the sunlight and waves," said Taylor.
Taylor said he didn't see any oil in marsh areas during the flight that was about 1,000 feet in altitude.
More about Gene Taylor from Wikipedia:
Taylor is one of the most conservative Democrats in the House, which is not surprising given the conservative nature of his district. In 2004 he voted with the Republican leadership 54.2 percent of the time. [3] He voted for all four articles of impeachment against Bill Clinton — one of four Democrats to do so — and has frequently skipped Democratic conventions. In 1998 he was one of only 18 Democrats in the House to vote to rename the Washington National Airport the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. He is pro-life, a supporter of the Federal Marriage Amendment and a firm supporter of gun rights. He had refused to vote for Nancy Pelosi as the Democrats' candidate for Speaker of the House until the party regained power in 2006, instead casting a protest vote for Jack Murtha. He did, however, join the other Democrats in voting for Pelosi in 2006.
Taylor is a strong opponent of affirmative action and opposes some anti-discrimination laws. He was one of only 15 Congressional Democrats to cast a vote against the Civil Rights Act of 1990.
And judging by the quotes on Rep.Taylor, people are livid, get this guy out of office.
Oh thanks for taking the time to read my diary. And if you are doing something to help with this horrible horrible crisis, thank you, even if it is just a small gesture of help.
