Glenn Beck's rant against Malia Obama has given us an opening against Glenn Beck and Fox News to expose them for what they are to main stream America, and we MUST not let this story die!!!
Make no mistake about it Glenn Beck and Fox News are nervous. As pitiful as Glenn Becks apology was, the fact that he apologized at all, shows that what he said on his show is a big deal. There is no doubt in my mind that he got a call from Fox News higher ups who told him he better nip this in the bud.
This story is starting to get traction in the MSM. As one of the few remaining people who have an aol e-mail account I saw this on the front page. Beck Apologizes
I was disappointed to see that Keith and Rachael didn't give it a lot of a time although I can't blame them given what's been going on in the Gulf. What makes this story so powerful is the tape. There is callous cruelty to Beck's mocking. My wife was totally offended by the tape and to quote a certain Alabama candidate, my wife could give a "Rip" about politics. Add this to the tape of the outrage he showed when he claimed that Palin's family was being targeted and you see Hypocrisy in a form that everybody understands.
Why is this story important?
Most people understand that people like Glenn Beck and organizations like Fox News are taking advantage of Business Model that exploits peoples fears, angers and prejudices for major profits but a lot of folks don't, and in this time of economic stress, anger and fear, people are paying attention to them who normally wouldn't. Add that to the fact that there is an African American president named Barack Obama and we see the real danger that exists in this country for the rhetoric that's being spewed by these folks.
I would probably fall under the category of Obama defender. i have sited in the past that he is doing the best he can under the current power structure and we need to be patient with him. But there is a part of me that doesn't want him to be weakened to the point where Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are pulling the levers of Government. That scares me shitless and that's not hyperbole.
