.. now get out of my bedroom!!!
Idaho State Republican Chairman Norm Semanko said he’d "never seen anything like the rise and fall of Vaughn Ward’s campaign." Ward, a decorated Iraq war veteran, was making his first run for office; he’d piled up endorsements from much of Idaho’s GOP mainstream, including two former governors.
I think social media is playing a significant role in politics in general, Semanko said. Even though it was a low turnout, what drove people to vote was the social media. ... Things are changing before our eyes.
And we are that social media.
Good job!
Story: Election shakes status quo
Idaho Republican Party Chairman Norm Semanko spoke with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele on Friday on behalf of upset 1st District congressional primary winner Raul Labrador.
Semanko released a statement from Steele that included:
The Republican Party will work to ensure these ... candidates have the resources necessary so we can stop the Democratic liberal agenda from intruding into the daily lives of Idahoans.
Did you hear that, you Democrats? Quit being so intrusive (snark)!
The Idaho Statesman reported that
The National Republican Congressional Committee had named Vaughn Ward, who lost to state Rep. Labrador by 9 points on Tuesday, one of its Top 10 "Young Guns." Thirty-eight House Republicans contributed a total of $79,500 to Ward; none gave to Labrador.
In an Idaho Statesman story, Friday, a spokeswoman for 2nd District GOP Rep. Mike Simpson said Simpson would try to mend the relationship between the NRCC and Labrador.
NRCC spokeswoman Joanna Burgos told the Statesman on Wednesday that Labrador must prove himself.
It all depends on his performance," Burgos said. "He is enrolled in the Young Guns, but there are still goals he needs to meet to move up. However, we will speak with him and work with him as we've done in the past. We have had conversations with his campaign at the staff level and will continue to do that.
Semanko's e-mail included:
Dear Fellow Idaho Republican,
The liberal media is wasting no time.
That's us again. Dang, we are good!
Already, they are trying to create the impression that Raul Labrador may not have the support of Republicans at the national level. But we know better.
I contacted RNC Chairman Michael Steele this morning. As a former State and County Republican Chairman, he fully understands the importance of supporting our efforts at the State and local levels. By his quick response, it is obvious that they will do everything they can to rally behind our candidate for Congress, Raul Labrador, as well as the rest of our ticket, top to bottom.
Victory in 2010!
Norm Semanko, Chairman
Idaho Republican Party
OK, Norm.
